Wood (biomass)

Wood (biomass)

Biomass can occur in firm, liquid or gaseous form and is used for heat, power and fuel production.
Liquid biomass are oils such as sunflower, raps or Camelina. Gaseous biomass is called fermentation gas or biogas. Among the firm biomass you can find straw, complete plants, China reed and energy plants beside the wood-like biomass (wood chips, pellets, wood).
Biomass heating technologies are today state of the art, and replace the fossil fuels, whereby the domestic agriculture gets new income possibilities. Committed humans and enterprises in Eastern styria recognized this chance field promptly. Today biomass technology is one of the "fields of strength" in the Energy region East Styria.
The area of application of the entire biomass is broadly strewn. Wood biomass is used at present mainly for the heat gain, which gains more importance due to rising costs on fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal), as well as increasing environmental awareness.
